On Tuesday, 22 December 1942, A-GB DZ360 of 105 squadron, took off for a mission to Termonde in Belgium from Marham in Norfolk, their mission to attack the Scheldt bridge whilst over their objective the aircraft was fatally hit by AA. At 16:46 hrs they crashed just outside the town of Axel. Both the pilot F/Sgt Joseph Edward Cloutier RCAF and the observer Sgt Albert Cecil Foxley RAF – sadly lost their lives in the crash.
